Continuation of our mini trip now to San Diego via Amtrak. Its our Day 3 here for our little girl Alree’s birthday trip. San Diego is known as “America’s Finest City”. It offers so many activities and the area has consistently rank in the top for family-friendly destinations.
Top things to visit and do in San diego
- Take Amtrak (Santa Fe) to San diego (downtown) ~ If you are planning for a day trip to San Diego from Anaheim or anywhere in OC, Amtrak is the way to go. (1) For the cost – so little, check Amtrak to schedule your trip. (2) For the seating – tip, travel on a Sunday, we park and ride in Fullerton. The parking has a limit of 3-hours and if you exceed that depending on the place you are heading, they will give you a ticket (in the Fullerton stay). Park riders beware. For seating, we purchased unreserved and since it’s a Sunday there’s not a lot people going so that’s plenty of seats. Plus, it’s the fraction of the price.
- Go take photos at the USS Midway and the unconditional surrender kiss (Downtown) ~ the USS Midway is a great reminder of the service of our great men and women did for our country. The Unconditional Surrender Kiss is one of the great places you can do a photo op. It reminds me of a place in Europe, Civitavecchi, Italy that showcase their humongous statuses.
San Diego Tribune, some excerpt: “Story behind this huge of a statue is found in
That statue, or more precisely, the photo that sparked it, is the subject of an upcoming book, “The Kissing Sailor” co-authored by Coronado resident George Galdorisi and Rhode Island history teacher Lawrence Verria.” Located at:
Tuna Harbor Park, G St and N Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101 Downtown
